Light Up The Dawn
Light Up the Dawn was an idea which originated within the Australian community, and was supported and promoted across Australia in a year of great challenge and change. As the sun peeked above the horizon, the country stood united – in uniforms or pyjamas, wearing medals, poppies and sprigs of rosemary – to let Australia’s veterans know that their service and sacrifice will never be forgotten.
Based on the tremendous community response to this initiative, we will again help Australians to come together in 2021, in their driveways, on their balconies, or in their living rooms at 6am to commemorate Australia’s deeply held ANZAC traditions. RSL will produce a shortened personal service and participation kits for use across our community – please check back with this page closer to the day to download your service.
RSL is working with our vast network of community Sub Branches to determine the best means for participation at traditional services and marches across the country. All public health guidelines will inform our planning as ANZAC Day draws closer, and the health and safety of our veterans and community members will remain our foremost concern. We will be publishing a map of services and activities across the country in coming weeks as these details are finalised.
Please help us continue supporting veterans
Times are tough for many at the moment and, sadly, that includes many in our Defence family.
If you are in a position to help financially, there is a way you can help us continue supporting veterans.
The ANZAC Appeal supports veterans when they need our help and is a major source of the funding for the RSL's delivery of veteran services.
